Creative Capital

We’re halfway through the year! How have you shown up for yourself, your loved ones, and your community thus far? How will you make an impact moving forward?

Did you know there are dedicated mural tours around D.C., like the ones offered in NoMa and U Street neighborhoods? There’s even a guide to more locations across D.C., so if you’re looking for something interesting and inexpensive to do–check these out!

As a reminder, our proposal portal is currently closed, and will reopen for submission on Friday, August 15. As we look forward to another cycle of grant-giving, we look back proudly at the artists we’ve met, galleries and exhibitions we’ve attended, and themes we’ve explored through dedicated facilitators and practitioners of their craft. We encourage you to view our grantees’ work, and get curious, get involved, and get connected!

Get in touch!

We're always eager to connect with artists and educators in the DMV area who are passionate about creating social impact through their work. Whether you have an idea for a community-based project or if you simply want to learn more about our grant opportunities, we'd love to hear from you!

Feel free to reach out to us through the contact information provided on our website, or submit your proposal using the form you'll find there.

A word from our founder

I’ve always been an artist, and I also spent the early part of my career as an educator. My innate love for people – and the ways we connect and unify – fuel my desire to contribute in additional meaningful ways. I’ve spent time reflecting on the etymology of the word 'philanthropy', and from its Greek roots we can translate its meaning to be 'the love of humanity'.

Of course, our contemporary understanding of the word is that it refers to an individual who donates towards a cause or organization, but let’s consider the motivation. It’s because of our commitment to see others flourish – that we contribute whatever, wherever, and however we can. I encourage you to seek opportunities to be philanthropic in your community, whether it’s donating, volunteering, or just showing up to engage. Because ultimately, love for each other is what sustains a community!

With gratitude,

Meg Clerc (Founder and CEO of Tour de Force Foundation)
